Takachiho Gorge is a narrow ravine on the Gokase River in Takachiho, northern Miyazaki, cut into the columnar joints of rock laid down by Aso’s pyroclastic flows. Its cliffs average about 80 m high, and the 17 m Manai Falls dropping into the gorge is best seen from one of the rental rowing boats.
