About this place

Emifull MASAKI is a large shopping centre in Masaki, Iyo District, just south of Matsuyama in Ehime, and one of the biggest retail complexes in Shikoku. It opened in 2008 and is built around a Fuji supermarket and a long run of speciality shops.

The mapcode points into the middle of the complex. The site has space for roughly 5,000 cars spread across several areas, so note which entrance or car park you used. The layout is big enough that finding the car again can take time. Iyotetsu’s Koizumi Station on the Gunchu Line is right by the site if anyone in the group is coming by train.

Need a mapcode for somewhere else?

This site covers 167 places. Your hotel, the rental return lot and the restaurant you booked need mapcodes too, and they are not on this list. The app converts any Japanese address or place name, in English, Korean, Chinese or Japanese. Free.

How to enter this in your car navigation

  1. On the navigation home screen, choose Destination (目的地).
  2. Choose Mapcode (マップコード) from the search methods.
  3. Type the digits, then the asterisk and the last two digits.
  4. Confirm the map preview shows the right area before you set the route.

Most Japanese rental cars (Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Times, Orix) accept mapcodes. Some older units ignore the *nn suffix. That is fine, because it only refines the pin.

Frequently asked questions

What is the mapcode for Emifull MASAKI?
The mapcode is 53 131 337*58, pointing at a spot in 愛媛県. Written as decimal degrees the same point is 33.789716, 132.716075. A navigation unit takes the mapcode in far fewer keystrokes than the coordinates, so enter the code.
What is a mapcode?
A mapcode is a short numeric code that identifies a spot in Japan, developed by Denso. Japanese car navigation systems accept it directly, which avoids typing a Japanese address on a Japanese keyboard.
How do I enter a mapcode in a Japanese rental car?
On the navigation unit choose Destination (目的地), then Mapcode (マップコード), then type the digits. The two digits after the asterisk are an optional precision suffix; older units simply ignore them.
What do the digits after the asterisk mean?
They are a high-resolution suffix that narrows the point to roughly a few metres. Without them the code still resolves, just to a slightly wider area.
