About this place
Okinawa World is a cultural theme park in Nanjo City, in the south of Okinawa’s main island, built above Gyokusendo — a limestone cave nearly five kilometres long, of which a section is open to walk through.
Southern Okinawa is quieter driving than the west coast strip, and the park has its own large lot, so this is one of the easier stops to reach. The cave route is a one-way walk that exits well away from where it starts, and it is wet underfoot throughout.

This site covers 30 places. Your hotel, the rental return lot, the restaurant you booked — those need mapcodes too, and they are not on this list. The app converts any Japanese address or place name, in English, Korean, Chinese or Japanese. Free.
How to enter this in your car navigation
- On the navigation home screen, choose Destination (目的地).
- Choose Mapcode (マップコード) from the search methods.
- Type the digits, then the asterisk and the last two digits.
- Confirm the map preview shows the right area before you set the route.
Most Japanese rental cars (Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Times, Orix) accept mapcodes. Some older units ignore the *nn suffix — that is fine, it only refines the pin.

Frequently asked questions
- What is the mapcode for Okinawa World?
- The mapcode is 232 495 243*30, pointing at a spot in 沖縄県. Written as decimal degrees the same point is 26.139828, 127.749014. A navigation unit takes the mapcode in far fewer keystrokes than the coordinates, so enter the code.
- What is a mapcode?
- A mapcode is a short numeric code that identifies a spot in Japan, developed by Denso. Japanese car navigation systems accept it directly, which avoids typing a Japanese address on a Japanese keyboard.
- How do I enter a mapcode in a Japanese rental car?
- On the navigation unit choose Destination (目的地), then Mapcode (マップコード), then type the digits. The two digits after the asterisk are an optional precision suffix; older units simply ignore them.
- What do the digits after the asterisk mean?
- They are a high-resolution suffix that narrows the point to roughly a few metres. Without them the code still resolves, just to a slightly wider area.
