About this place
Cape Chinen Park is a grassy headland on the south-east coast of Nanjo City, set behind the Nanjo City regional products hall. From its paths and red-tiled pavilions you look straight out over the reef to Kudaka Island and the small islet of Komaka.
The mapcode points at the park entrance by the products hall, where the car park is. This is the same parking used for Sefa Utaki, a few minutes’ walk away, so the two make one stop. The park has no set hours or closing days. It is roughly an hour’s drive from Naha Airport.

How to enter this in your car navigation
- On the navigation home screen, choose Destination (目的地).
- Choose Mapcode (マップコード) from the search methods.
- Type the digits, then the asterisk and the last two digits.
- Confirm the map preview shows the right area before you set the route.
Most Japanese rental cars (Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Times, Orix) accept mapcodes. Some older units ignore the *nn suffix. That is fine, because it only refines the pin.

Frequently asked questions
- What is the mapcode for Cape Chinen Park?
- The mapcode is 232 594 587*44, pointing at a spot in 沖縄県. Written as decimal degrees the same point is 26.167914, 127.828018. A navigation unit takes the mapcode in far fewer keystrokes than the coordinates, so enter the code.
- What is a mapcode?
- A mapcode is a short numeric code that identifies a spot in Japan, developed by Denso. Japanese car navigation systems accept it directly, which avoids typing a Japanese address on a Japanese keyboard.
- How do I enter a mapcode in a Japanese rental car?
- On the navigation unit choose Destination (目的地), then Mapcode (マップコード), then type the digits. The two digits after the asterisk are an optional precision suffix; older units simply ignore them.
- What do the digits after the asterisk mean?
- They are a high-resolution suffix that narrows the point to roughly a few metres. Without them the code still resolves, just to a slightly wider area.
