About this place
Kafu Banta is a cliff-top viewpoint on Miyagi Island in Uruma, inside the grounds of the Nuchimaasu salt factory. The name means roughly ‘cliff of good fortune’ in the local language, and it looks down over layered blue and emerald water and white sand.
Miyagi Island is reached from the main island over the Kaichu Doro causeway, continuing across Henza Island. You park at the salt factory, where parking and entry to the viewpoint are free, and walk through the grounds; the mapcode points at the viewpoint itself. The factory keeps daytime hours, roughly 9:00 to 17:30.

How to enter this in your car navigation
- On the navigation home screen, choose Destination (目的地).
- Choose Mapcode (マップコード) from the search methods.
- Type the digits, then the asterisk and the last two digits.
- Confirm the map preview shows the right area before you set the route.
Most Japanese rental cars (Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Times, Orix) accept mapcodes. Some older units ignore the *nn suffix. That is fine, because it only refines the pin.

Frequently asked questions
- What is the mapcode for Kafu Banta?
- The mapcode is 499 674 728*68, pointing at a spot in 沖縄県. Written as decimal degrees the same point is 26.360737, 127.992023. A navigation unit takes the mapcode in far fewer keystrokes than the coordinates, so enter the code.
- What is a mapcode?
- A mapcode is a short numeric code that identifies a spot in Japan, developed by Denso. Japanese car navigation systems accept it directly, which avoids typing a Japanese address on a Japanese keyboard.
- How do I enter a mapcode in a Japanese rental car?
- On the navigation unit choose Destination (目的地), then Mapcode (マップコード), then type the digits. The two digits after the asterisk are an optional precision suffix; older units simply ignore them.
- What do the digits after the asterisk mean?
- They are a high-resolution suffix that narrows the point to roughly a few metres. Without them the code still resolves, just to a slightly wider area.
