About this place

Tokyo DisneySea is the sea-themed second park of the Tokyo Disney Resort at Maihama, Urayasu City, Chiba, opened in 2001 next to Tokyo Disneyland. The mapcode on this page points inside DisneySea, which is a different place from its neighbour as far as parking is concerned.

Tokyo DisneySea Parking is its own lot, separate from Tokyo Disneyland Parking; it opens two hours before the park and closes an hour after, with entry until 30 minutes after closing. Set the navigation to the DisneySea car park rather than a generic Tokyo Disney Resort point, which does not tell the two lots apart. The hotel car parks and Ikspiari parking charge separately.

Need a mapcode for somewhere else?

This site covers 167 places. Your hotel, the rental return lot and the restaurant you booked need mapcodes too, and they are not on this list. The app converts any Japanese address or place name, in English, Korean, Chinese or Japanese. Free.

How to enter this in your car navigation

  1. On the navigation home screen, choose Destination (目的地).
  2. Choose Mapcode (マップコード) from the search methods.
  3. Type the digits, then the asterisk and the last two digits.
  4. Confirm the map preview shows the right area before you set the route.

Most Japanese rental cars (Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Times, Orix) accept mapcodes. Some older units ignore the *nn suffix. That is fine, because it only refines the pin.

Frequently asked questions

What is the mapcode for Tokyo DisneySea?
The mapcode is 6 121 795*07, pointing at a spot in 千葉県. Written as decimal degrees the same point is 35.627259, 139.884411. A navigation unit takes the mapcode in far fewer keystrokes than the coordinates, so enter the code.
What is a mapcode?
A mapcode is a short numeric code that identifies a spot in Japan, developed by Denso. Japanese car navigation systems accept it directly, which avoids typing a Japanese address on a Japanese keyboard.
How do I enter a mapcode in a Japanese rental car?
On the navigation unit choose Destination (目的地), then Mapcode (マップコード), then type the digits. The two digits after the asterisk are an optional precision suffix; older units simply ignore them.
What do the digits after the asterisk mean?
They are a high-resolution suffix that narrows the point to roughly a few metres. Without them the code still resolves, just to a slightly wider area.
