About this place
Huis Ten Bosch is a theme park in Sasebo, Nagasaki, built as a Dutch town of canals, windmills and brick streets on the north shore of Omura Bay. It opened in 1992 and covers about 152 ha, with hotels inside the grounds.
The mapcode points at the north side of the park, by the entrance area and bus stop. From the Sasebo-Daito IC on the Nishi-Kyushu Expressway it is about ten minutes. Day visitors use the main car park by the entrance, which charges a flat fee per visit; guests at the in-park hotels park at their hotel instead, so check which lot your booking uses before you arrive.
Need a mapcode for somewhere else?
This site covers 167 places. Your hotel, the rental return lot and the restaurant you booked need mapcodes too, and they are not on this list. The app converts any Japanese address or place name, in English, Korean, Chinese or Japanese. Free.
How to enter this in your car navigation
- On the navigation home screen, choose Destination (目的地).
- Choose Mapcode (マップコード) from the search methods.
- Type the digits, then the asterisk and the last two digits.
- Confirm the map preview shows the right area before you set the route.
Most Japanese rental cars (Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Times, Orix) accept mapcodes. Some older units ignore the *nn suffix. That is fine, because it only refines the pin.

Frequently asked questions
- What is the mapcode for Huis Ten Bosch?
- The mapcode is 307 320 453*11, pointing at a spot in 長崎県. Written as decimal degrees the same point is 33.090951, 129.790488. A navigation unit takes the mapcode in far fewer keystrokes than the coordinates, so enter the code.
- What is a mapcode?
- A mapcode is a short numeric code that identifies a spot in Japan, developed by Denso. Japanese car navigation systems accept it directly, which avoids typing a Japanese address on a Japanese keyboard.
- How do I enter a mapcode in a Japanese rental car?
- On the navigation unit choose Destination (目的地), then Mapcode (マップコード), then type the digits. The two digits after the asterisk are an optional precision suffix; older units simply ignore them.
- What do the digits after the asterisk mean?
- They are a high-resolution suffix that narrows the point to roughly a few metres. Without them the code still resolves, just to a slightly wider area.
